With only a few games left, last Thursday night Bobby all but solidified his crowning of champion for 2009 with what was one of the greatest come backs in TNP history! First, however, a death blow was delivered to Giordan when his full house, jacks full of aces, ran into Devin's full house, aces full of kings. Justin B., either due to sympathy for Giordan or because of his queasy stomach, soon followed. I wasn't having sympathy pains or stomach pains, I just got my ass kicked and was out third. Ish followed me and a new comer to TNP, Justin Wheeler, finished 4th. Chris hit quad 4s to make the top 3. Then with our heads up players established, came the biggest come back I've ever seen. To start the heads up Devin had a slight chip lead. His quick ousting of Giordan helped early and often to push the smaller chip stacks around. His run continued until Bobby went all in with only $800 in chips against Devin's seemingly insurmountable stack of over $17,000. But, after doubling up on his first $800 all in, Bobby did the impossible and came back to win.
8. Giordan 1
7. Justin B. 2
6. Jeff 3
5. Ish 4
4. Justin Wheeler 5
3. Chris 7 (Including 1 bonus point for quad 4s)
2. Devin 8
1. Bobby 12 (Including my bounty point from last week and retaining his own bounty point from last week)
Only 2 games left this year. We'll take Christmas Eve off but be back for the triple point, $10 buy in New Year's Eve spectacular. Until next time, may all your cards be live and your pots be monsters!

Double Header!
Another TNP first! Because game 1 went so quickly, a second game ensued and for the first time in TNP history, we have our first double header!
GAME 1
Devin just wasn't feeling it so he played fast and loose and was eliminated first. I followed soon thereafter. Ish was next followed by Chris. The heads up came down to Justin & Bobby with Bobby taking the game and Justin's bounty point.
6. Devin 1
5. Jeff 2
4. Ish 3
3. Chris 4
2. Justin 6
1. Bobby 9 (Including Justin's bounty point)
GAME 2
With so much time left we shuffled up for another round. Giordan arrived in time to take Devin's place. Justin, being put out first, dealt for the duration of the game and did a fine job as far as I'm concerned. Giordan was out next the Ish. Chris exited next and that left me and Bobby. Finally, after a long drought, I received another check mark in the winners column.
6. Justin 1
5. Giordan 2
4. Ish 3
3. Chris 4
2. Bobby 6
1. Jeff 9 (Including Justin's bounty point)
Only 3 games left in 2009 including New Year Eve's triple point spectacular so who knows what surprises next week may hold. Until then may all your cards be live and your pots be monsters!

For the rest of 2009
Only 4 games left in 2009 as Christmas Eve falls on a Thursday. As it looks now, barring anything unforseen, Bobby looks like the odds on favorite to take the victory. We'll have one more triple points night on New Year's Eve with a $10 buy in that night.

Fashion Flush!
The runway was brightly lit, the crowd eager with anticipation, models, half naked, pranced off stage awaiting their cue to strut their stuff. As the music began the first model began the first of the tragic displays of the night.
The first designer, Lindsay Lohan, from her line 6126, shocked the crowd when her model made a pathetic attempt to dance on a pole in the middle of a high fashion runway. It was a sad attempt to gain attention. Her design, almost indescribable, was a disgrace. The neon yellow cheetah print repulsed the audience enough to not notice the black pant with basic, hideous black heels. Overall this design was laughed off the stage and Lindsay left the show, her head hung low in shame.

Next in show, Toby Kieth, a newcomer to the fashion world, didn't fare much better. His new line was not received well at all and was panned by the fashionista elite.

Our next designer to show on the runway was a handsome man......er woMAN, Gordana Gehlhausen. She displayed a simple evening gown which was nice.....but Boring! She was quickly dismissed to move on with the show.

Giorgio Armani was next with a great sigh of relief from the crowd as they anticipated something spectacular from him. He displayed a lovely evening gown which was a nice change of pace for the show but falling way short to be the best.

With the smell of horse manure and coors light making it's way to the front Miley Cyrus stepped into the spotlight to announce her refusal of all models thinking she can model her self-titled line better than any inferior model could. As she struggled to walk in the metallic silver mini-dress she stumbled over her boxy silver shoes and fell flat on her ass to the amusement of the crowd. She was last seen sobbing and running out of the show back to the country.

Since Beyonce feels the need to be involved in any and everything, she was next to send a model down the runway from her personal line Dereon. Although critics panned the line for it's outrageous-nous she still sells high and has a good bid for tonight's show. But try as she might she must angrily and inevitably succumb to defeat.

Nearing the end of the show there are only two designers left. Alexander McQueen and his bold and controversial design was next. Going with a black and red print avantguard gown, the model goes down the runway ready to clear away any competition and the dust on the floor. However, McQueen was trying too hard for the edgy rock look and the horrible makeup was his major downfall.

By far the crowd pleaser for the evening was our last designer of the night. Roberto Cavalli showed us an elegant, light, gown which flowed down the runway with ease. The tight bodice of the dress went well the plush bottom and accessories matching. Topped off with exclusive Cavalli mary jane shoes, almost looking electric he stole the show with this gorgeous display of what design is supposed to be. How does he continue to achieve such perfection? With the ease and style that only a professional can master.

This wraps up our fashion flush. I hope everyone has a safe, happy Thanksgiving and we'll all gather again in 2 weeks for another excursion into the world of fabrics, fashion and gays! Until then, may all your cards be live and your pots be monsters!

Ok ok......
I know it's more than a week late. Sadly it was Dustin's last game and sadly he was out first. He ends his run at TNP with a very respectable 4 wins however and will be missed very much. I had sympathy pains and so I played to go out next so he wouldn't feel bad. Mark then Ish followed me out then Justin B. Chris was out next and Justin W. placed third overall, a very good night for him. Lisa made the top 2 and Bobby, adding another win and since it was on triple points night has just about put himself out of reach for the year. Here are the numbers.
9 Dustin 1 x 3 = 3
8 Jeff 2 x 3 = 6
7 Mark 3 x 3 =9
6 Ish 4 x 3 = 12
5 Justin B 5 x 3 = 15
4 Chris 6 x 3 = 18
3 Justin W 7 x 3 = 21
2 Lisa 9 x 3 = 27
1 Bobby 11 + 1 x 3 = 36 (Lisa's bounty point)
There are the numbers. With only a few more games to play before the stats get reset it's going to be difficult for anyone to catch Bobby. Chris has about the only chance to do it. I'm waiting on Justin B to help me post the next blog from last Thursday night's game. One more triple points game on New Year's Eve the everyone starts over at zero. Until next week, may all your cards be live and your pots be monsters!

Another first!
It came down to an unlikely pair in heads up. Each looking for their first win at TNP. First to exit was Dustin, thankfully, because I was out soon thereafter. Devin finished next followed by Chris. Bobby next then Justin. This left the heads up between Ish & Lisa. Ish had a sizable chip lead but he grew impatient and Lisa, in her cool, collected manner, simply waited him out and called his last all in with a small pair, but it was big enough to give her her first win! Congratulations Lisa!

How much tighter could it be?
Only 1 point separates the top 3 on the leader board. And this with another triple points on the horizon. How'd we get to this point?
I had sucky cards again, but thanks to Ish I wasn't first out this week. Dustin, after surviving a devastating hit from Devin's quad queens, was dealt a death blow when Bobby's quad queens put him out. Chris did ok, Justin, as sick as he is did better and the top two battled for about an hour but Bobby just couldn't overcome Devin's chip lead. The numbers:
7. Ish 1
6. Jeff 2
5. Dustin 3
4. Chris 4
3. Justin 5
2. Bobby 8 (including a bonus point for quad queens)
1. Devin 11 (including a bonus point for quad queens and one for Justin's bounty)
On Thursday, November 12 Dustin will be playing his last game here at TNP as he will be moving back to Lubbock. On that night we'll have another triple points game and spaghetti will be served. Until next week, may all your cards be live and your pots be monsters!

Adam's return
Was most impressive. Months since his last appearance, Adam quickly reminded us why he was one of the most feared and respected players of TNP Phase 1. A ten player field began the night but was reduced by one when Rich, a rookie to TNP, was first out.
The surprise of the night came when Bobby was ousted next, soon followed by Devin. Lisa was next to hit the skids with Ish close behind. Dustin, starting out like gang busters, soon ran out of gas. Not the gas he bombed us with last week, the gas needed to outlast everyone else. Justin made the top 4, Chris top 3 and the heads up came down to Adam and myself. It's been months if not a year or more since he and I were the only ones playing.
Starting out with close to chip equity, bad hand after bad hand soon had Adam with a sizable chip lead. The outcome was inevitable and I soon succumbed to his superior cards. Here's the night by the numbers.

A cold wind.....
Brought the season's first real chill but the poker was hot and furious! Could Mark make it 5 wins? Would Bobby keep his lead? Let's find out.
First to exit was that hair cutting fool Justin W. Next out was Dustin. Chris, in the midst of a slump left the table next. Ish soon followed and Bobby couldn't last past 5th place even with the help of quad 10s. Justin B. kept winning his all ins but was finally eliminated. Mark did manage to make the top 3 and that left Devin with 95% of the chips so I went all in on the very next hand and ended the inevitable outcome. Devin kept hitting the river and tonight was just his night. Here are the numbers.
9. Justin W. 1

Quattro
Mark made it 4 wins tonight. Were it not for his schedule at work, he might even have the points lead as well. But as it is he'll settle for the wins lead. It came down to him and unexpected Bobby in heads up. Mark took out every player with only one exception, Devin. Bobby took care of him. It started when Mark took out Dustin & his wife Justin in the same hand. From there it was only a matter of time until he had his 4th win. Ish bowed out next followed by a surprising performance by Yippie! Chris next then Lisa. Devin was out next, thanks to Bobby, then Justin B. I made the top 3 BUT I should have done better if not for Mark talking Bobby to call my straight with his flush. Dam Bobby! The final 2 battled back and forth and it could have easily gone either way even though Mark entered the heads up with a sizable chip lead. Here's the night by the numbers.

Battlestar Galactica

There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. That they may have been the architects of the great pyramids, or the lost civilizations of Lemuria or Atlantis. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man who even now fight to survive somewhere beyond the heavens...
And it is that epic struggle of good versus evil, right versus wrong, or could it simply be the fight to survive and perpetuate an idea, a civilization or species. It is that clash of the titans that we will examine here and now.

The first casualty of this ongoing struggle was none other than last weeks champion, Carl Agathon, call sign "Helo". His performance over the past weeks, particularly last week, made him an early favorite. But this night would seal his doom as he was taken out early and left the battle to be marooned on Caprica.

The CAG for Galactica, Lee Adama, call sign "Apollo", did better this battle than in battles past. His Viper was damaged early on, however, and he just couldn't keep it airborne.

Manning his post during the battle, fervent in his duties, Lt. Felix Gaeta succumbed to injuries received and was taken to sick bay.

The life of a resistance fighter is never easy. Fighting with limited resources, taking from the enemy the supplies needed just to stay alive, leading a disorganized para-military unit, Samuel T. Anders still manages to come out on top, most of the time. But not this night, not this battle.

Still on top after last night's bloody fight, President Laura Roslin has proven she's not a quitter. Anyone able to handle the Quorum of 12 can take on a squadron of Cylons. Taking defeat in stride, she vows revenge!

Tom Zarek. What else need be said. Cold, calculating, taking his time, weighing the cost before committing to action. Second only to the President, Tom requires a watchful eye.

Colonel Saul Tigh, XO of Galactica and close friend & confidant of Commander Adam. Drunk, power hungry and married to a wife that drinks more and craves more power than even the colonel. Many thought tonight would be his once again. His previous 3 victories led to tonight's history making event, yet he was unable to claim supremacy for a fourth time. Perhaps Ellen, his wife, persuaded him to sacrifice himself for the sake of the fleet. Not likely!

Genius, egotist, master at self preservation, Dr. Gaius Baltar took a huge lead going into the final 3. It was widely anticipated that he would easily cruise to victory. But the combined efforts of one Admiral Helena Cain and one Commander William Adama proved too much to overcome.

Commanding the Battlestar Pegasus and demanding respect at any cost, the mere mention of Admiral Helena Cain strikes fear into the hearts of most. Except for one man.

Commander William Adama, affectionately known as "the old man", having seen too many battles, survived too many close calls, proved once again that underestimating him or his beloved Galactica comes at a high price. It may have been months since he sat atop the heap but counting the old man out will always be a mistake.
Fleeing from the Cylon tyranny, the last Battlestar, Galactica, leads a rag-tag fugitive fleet on a lonely quest -- a shining planet, known as Earth.
The night by the numbers:
10. Helo - Justin - 1 x 3 = 3
9. Apollo - Ish - 2 x 3 = 6
8. Lt. Gaeta - Jake - 3 x 3 = 9
7. Sam Anders - Dustin - 4 x 3 = 12
6. President Roslin - Bobby - 5 x 3 = 15
5. Tom Zarek - Chris - 6 x 3 = 18
4. Col. Saul Tigh - Mark - 7 x 3 = 21
3. Dr. Gaius Baltar - Devin - 8 + 4 = 12 x 3 = 36 (including Mark's 3 bounty points and Justin's 1 bounty point)
2. Admiral Helena Cain - Lisa - 10 + 2 = 12 x 3 = 36 (including 2 bonus points for straight flush)
1. Commander William Adama - Jeff - 12 x 3 = 36
Next week things settle down, back to normal. Until then, may all your cards be live and your pots be monsters!

Announcing, for the first time ever......
Justin won! And against Bobby, our current reigning champion. But before it could come down to this finale, let's go back to the beginning.

Here's the night by the numbers.

6. Lisa 3
5. Chris 4

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT - UPPING THE ANTE!
Mark your calendars for Thursday, September 24. An unprecedented event will take place. Since Mark has to work the next 3 Thursdays, we've decided to make his next game a big one. Since there won't be any bounty point available next week, since Mark will have 3 on his head the next time he plays, since he was drunk and insisted on it Thursday night, we're going to have a blow out game on the 24th. Here are the details:
$10 buy in, winner take all
TRIPLE POINTS
Special rules!
Because so much will be at stake for this game, the following special rules will be strictly enforced:
When the final table is assembled, the following World Series of Poker protocols will be observed.
NO BETTING OUT OF TURN
NO FOLDING OUT OF TURN
NO SHOWING OF HANDS TO PLAYERS WHO HAVE FOLDED
To help insure these protocols are followed, hands will be dealt but not given to players immediately. Hands will be dealt for each player and kept close to the dealer. In order, they will be handed to the next player to act. Players will then act and play will continue. You can not ask if other players will play or fold. If a player asks for it, a 1 minute clock will be started keeping play flowing. No one will be allowed to touch the computer, the clock will be displayed at all times. With so much at stake, these protocols are essential. It'll be the closest we've come to actual tournament play. I can't wait!

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.........
Space itself, cold and unforgiving, was electric with anticipation. Two previous battles had ended with victory for one and this battle would be no different. The first casualty, coming as a shock, was none other than Emperor Palpatine himself! His early demise was shocking but he left the battlefield more of his own accord than any other reason. His failing health and desire to be elsewhere made his tactics sloppy. For his sake, however, fate would insure he'd retain his throne.

But just when you thought there could be no more surprises it's best you think again, for the very next warrior to be eliminated was none other than Grand Moff Tarkin! Eager to unseat the Emperor and assume control of the Galactic Empire, Tarkin's plans were thwarted and he still remains second in command!

It was as if the universe was turning upside down as the next to leave the battlefield was third in the chain of command for this battle, Admiral Piett! He was able to deliver one huge salvo, however, before surrendering the battlefield to more worthy opponents.

While not a seasoned warrior, Senator Organa nevertheless is an excellent orator and debater. These skills helped keep him in the conflict for as long as possible.
His skills as a politician somewhat suspect, he is nevertheless full of energy and mischief. Representative Jar-Jar Binks did manage to redeem himself after the previous battle's disgrace.
This once powerful and feared member of the Jedi order has been reduced to an aging relic from the old Republic. Cast aside and forgotten, Count Dooku still surprises from time to time.
Scoundrel, pirate, renegade, call him what you will. Han Solo is always spoiling for a fight. Having his share of successes, taking him for granted is always risky.

A young newcomer to the war, Luke Skywalker, made an impressive debut. He withstood attack after attack from none other than Lord Vader himself, yet the youngster stood his ground and fought valiantly.
Finally, when the laser fire had settled down and ship debris scattered, what could be the beginning of a rivalry began taking shape as the final two combatants were left on the surface of a rocky, barren planet. Having abandoned their ships, they drew the weapon of old, used for centuries by warriors from a nobler, more honorable era. Try as he might, however, Obi Wan Kenobi could not defeat the foe he most feared.
For in this battle, as in the previous 2, a dark lord of the Sith, none other than Darth Vader himself, would not be denied. First to achieve 3 in a row, climbing steadily up the standings, Lord Vader proved once again he is a force to be reckoned with.
As epic and grand as this battle was, it did nothing but set the stage for a battle so grand, with so much at stake, that the galaxy itself trembles at the thought of the coming conflict. So, until then, may the force be with you!

2 in a Row!
Bringing food seems to be good luck for Mark. Sorry, no story this week, I'll try doing it once in a while as we go forward. On to tonight's action!
I had some sweet revenge on Dustin this week. His stupid pair of twos last week put me out but this week my quad Jacks returned the favor. Dustin was first out!
A newcomer to the table, Ramiro, friend of Markus, was next to leave the table.
Justin W., arriving late from a hard day of work, was ousted next.
Lisa made an appearance but left next.
Ish survived 2 or 3 all ins before being defeated.
Bobby, out next, nevertheless retains his top spot.
Chris, hoping to last just a little longer, had to leave next unable to retake the top spot.
Markus, playing well, made the top 4.
I played much better this week, especially since it was double points night. My quad jacks added a bonus point.
The heads up came down to Devin, first out last week, and Mark, last weeks winner. Opposite ends of the spectrum going heads up. The chips flew back and forth and both players were tired of playing. Finally, both went all in with nothing and Mark's ace high finally ended the game. Here are the numbers.
11. Dustin 2
10. Ramiro 4
9. Justin w 6
8. Lisa 8
7. Ish 10
6. Bobby 12
5. Chris 14
4. Markus 16
3. Jeff 20 (including 1 bonus point for quad jacks)
2. Devin 20
1. Mark 26 (including 2 bonus points, 1 for quad 10s and 1 for retaining his bounty point)
Good times and until next week, may all your cards be live and your pots be monsters!

Blast from the past!
Mark & Justin requested an old school posting for last night's game. So because Mark made such a great taco salad and because he actually won last night, here we go.
To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything
Julie Newmar

Our story begins with the usual cast of characters. Well, maybe not so usual. A group of gay friends who, for one reason or another, think they can play poker AND look good in drag. Well, some of them think they look good in drag. Truth be told, ok, we won't go there.
It was just another typical Thursday night gathering before the big drag show to determine this year's top drag queen with the winner promised an all expense paid trip to beautiful and exotic Bismarck, North Dakota!
The first shocker of the night occured when the up and coming newbie, Sum-dum Ho was eliminated first. Poor thing, she's been working out so much lately trying to get into tip top shape but was upset early by Peg Bundy. Only one queen point for Miss Ho.

Making a long overdue return to the stage and poker table was Miss Noxeema Jackson. She did a great job for a while but soon reverted to her old ways and was ousted next from the poker table. Let's hope she fares better at the show. For her efforts, Miss Jackson was awarded 2queen points.
Behind every successful drag queen is the lonely, little noticed and seldom credited manager. Such is the case for John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt. Hard working, honest and kind he's always in the background, doing the heavy lifting and never seeing the spotlight. Thus it was for John this night as he took a back seat to the "beauty" of the queens and had to settle for 3 IOUs.
Dreaming that one day she'll be more than just a little latin boy in a dress, Miss Chi-Chi Rodriguez had to settle for 4th place tonight. She practiced Monday night, dancing her little ass off. We may even see a video of this. But tonight just wasn't her night. 4 queen points for Miss Rodriguez.
Simply known as Christina, our next to bow out has been used to the spotlight. Her performance in TNP Phase 3 has been stellar. She's hit a bump in the road, however, the past couple of weeks and has had to give up her top spot. 5 queen points tonight.
Nickolette, after coming on strong in her first performance, was in the middle of the pack last night. After tonight, Miss Vida has put her back in her place. Last! 6 queen points.
She came on strong in the beginning but faded towards the end. Miss Alison Lane did manage to win a bonus point for quad 8s. She did move up in the standings and ended the night with 8 queen points.
The infamous Peg Bundy made an appearance at the poker table. She was blazing hot right out of the blocks eliminating one of the favorites, Miss Ho. Peg's luck eventually ran out, however, but not before she racked up 8 queen points.
Cha Cha LaRue made the top 3. Her performance was impressive and she earned 11 queen points for her efforts. Her neck was even clean of the previous injuries she must have suffered from a chain saw accident. She also earned a bonus point for taking Nickolett's booty, I mean bounty point.
The current overall reigning queen, Miss Sasha Fierce, who bears a striking resemblance to Beyonce, came from behind late to take on none other than the dreaded Miss Vida Boheme, drag queen extraordinaire from the distant past. It was a close and of course fierce battle but in the end Miss Vida turned out to be a bigger ass than what Miss Shasha carries around all day. Her performance was impresseive, however, and she earned 11 queen points.
Finally, with all the grace, elegance and charm she's been famous for lo these many, many years, none other than Miss Vida Boheme won the night over the crowded field. Slow playing, aggressive betting and sheer intimidation spelled success for this weeks reigning drag queen. Congratulations Miss Boheme for the win and for taking Sasha's bounty point.
After the game it was time to celebrate as you can see below!

Next month a few of our preformers are headed to Dallas for fun at Gay pride.

Here's the cast and numbers for the night:
11. Miss Sum-Dum Ho (Devin) 1
10. Miss Noxeema Jackson (Justin W) 2
9. John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt (Jeff) 3
8. Miss Chi-Chi Rodriguez (Ish) 4
7. Miss Christina (Chris) 5
6. Miss Nickolette (Nick) 6
5. Miss Alison Lane (Dustin) 8 (including 1 bounty point for quad 8s)
4. Miss Peg Bundy (Justin B) 8
3. Miss Cha Cha LaRue (Markus) 10 (including Nick's bounty point)
2. Miss Sasha Fierce (Bobby) 11
1. Miss Vida Boheme (Mark) 13 (including Bobby's bounty point)
What a show it was. We can't wait until the next one. Until then, may all your cards be live and your pots be fabulous!
